UPDATE: ALL THE FROZEN TURKEY HAVE BEEN TAKEN to be cooked and returned to the homeless shelter. HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE who helped spread the word and/or picked up a bird & volunteered their time!

-------------------------------

CAN YOU HELP? WE SUPPLY THE TURKEY.
YOU SUPPLY THE LABOR AND OVEN SPACE!

You return the bird cooked and neatly packed in freezer bags.

CAN YOU COOK A TURKEY? Specifically, can you cook a turkey for the Dover Interfaith Mission for Housing (DIMH).

PLUS, HOMELESS SHELTER PROVIDES THE TURKEY! No cost to you. We are seeking volunteers for a little of their spare time.

DIMH has an overload of donated, frozen turkeys. The mission also has a kitchen. Actually, it is a full-equipped, large-scale kitchen, but oven space is limited (i.e. particularly shelf height). There is not nearly enough room to fit a big bird.

So, can you cook a turkey for us? Here’s how you can help. First, you (1) pick up the frozen turkey at the homeless center. Next, you will need to (2) defrost it. Then, once you’ve (3) cooked it, you (4) pull the meat from the bones and (5) place it in freezer storage bags that you (6) return fully packed to the homeless center.

Any single individual can do this – or make it a family, group, club, or organization project. Again, the turkeys are free. You supply the labor, oven, and freezer bags. In the end, you’ll get just a warm, grateful, most appreciative “thank you” for all your troubles, but you also will ensure many Dover homeless men do not go hungry this winter.

To arrange to pick up a frozen turkey from the Dover Interfaith Mission for Housing (DIMH), please call DIMH's Miss Wilma at 302-736-3600 after 9:00 AM, weekdays. She’ll arrange to have a frozen turkey waiting for you. (The shelter is located at 684 Forest Street, Dover, DE 19904).

WOODBROOK NEIGHBORS
SERVE DINNER AT DIMH

The Woodbrook neighborhood rang in the New Year 2020 by serving a holiday dinner at the Dover Interface Mission for Housing (DIMH). The neighbor’s – Buttillo’s, DePrima’s, Engel’s, Forbes’, Lees’, Miller’s, McClusky’s, Moody’s, and Stein’s – prepared an amazing assortment of dishes including two tasty versions of bread crumb coated chicken, an especially savory chicken casserole, and a fourth chicken platter baked in a creamy white sauce. Also on the year-end menu was a delicious green bean casserole as well as green beans simmered with ham, homemade mash potatoes and blueberry bread piled high. There also was soda, chips and at least three delightful assortments of mouthwatering brownies.

DATES ARE OPEN IN THE FUTURE FOR VOLUNTEERS

If your group, organization or neighborhood is interested in preparing and serving dinner at the homeless center, please contact DIMH's Miss Wilma at 302-736-3600 or e-mail: interfaithdover@verizon.net. She can help and advise about how to put together an evening meal for these men. (The shelter is located at 684 Forest Street, Dover, DE 19904).

Volunteers serving dinner prepare their dishes at home and/or cook right at the shelter’s large-scale, fully-equipped kitchen. CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS OF THE DIMH KITCHEN available to those serving dinner.
